As I discussed in Part 1, the Carrousel du Louvre served as the launchpad for a major shift in Ivalua’s product philosophy: the move from simple Generative AI assistance to a fully agentic platform. At the center of this transformation is IVA Studio, the new “factory” for autonomous procurement operations announced during the mainstage keynotes at Ivalua NOW 2026.
To understand this shift, a critical architectural distinction must be made: Ivalua is not building a fragmented network of disparate, individual AI agents. Instead, they have built a singular, platform-wide AI agent at the core—IVA. On day one, IVA inherently understands the customer’s data, workflows, and internal policies. IVA Studio is the environment that allows procurement teams to govern, deploy, and expand the specific skills that this central agent can dynamically orchestrate. Much like advanced LLMs operate today, a user prompts IVA, and the core agent determines the right skills, platform tools, and data context needed to execute the task.
The Six Pillars of Ready-to-Deploy Skills
To help organizations rapidly operationalize this capability, Ivalua showcased a comprehensive library of ready-to-deploy skills natively available to IVA across the Source-to-Pay (S2P) spectrum. These are categorized into six primary operational pillars:

Beyond these out-of-the-box skills, IVA Studio allows for further expansion through an Add-On Store, a Public Marketplace, and the ability for organizations to Build Their Own Skills.
The Skill Ecosystem: Add-ons, Marketplaces, and DIY
One of the most powerful aspects of IVA Studio is that it isn’t a closed system. Ivalua is facilitating a three-tiered approach to expansion:
- Add-On Store: Pre-built innovations from Ivalua’s certified partner ecosystem.
- Public Marketplace: Integration with external intelligence providers like EcoVadis or Tealbook.
- Build Your Own: The ability for “Citizen Developers” within procurement to codify their unique processes into an agent skill without writing code.
Ardent Analysis: A Major Win for Adoption
This is an impressive plan. It reminds me of the early days of eSourcing, where providers built templates for multi-stage negotiations or sealed bids, but this is far more expansive. Ivalua is essentially building out the capabilities for its core agent, IVA, to handle the primary activities performed by procurement staffers.
In a period where CPOs are being very deliberate about how they onboard AI, IVA Studio provides a clear, manageable framework. By offering a library of “Ready-to-Deploy” skills for IVA to leverage, Ivalua hopes to empower and accelerate pilots. Even if these out-of-the-box capabilities require tweaking at the customer level, they provide a valuable starting point.
We are currently in an era so new that there are no established “best practices” for where to begin with AI. By commoditizing these skills for broad usage, Ivalua is solving the “blank page” problem for its customers, allowing them to focus on governance and strategy rather than basic engineering.
The Human-in-the-Loop Governance
Crucially, this autonomy does not mean a lack of control. IVA Studio includes a “System of Governance” designed to monitor IVA’s reasoning and performance as it deploys these skills. As we see the rise of new roles like the Agent Portfolio Manager and Business Ontologist, the goal is clear: use AI to replace the mundane tasks that keep buyers from being strategic, not to replace the buyers themselves.
