The CPO Rising 2022: The Data Revolution (aka The State of Procurement in 2022) report is now available for download. If you work in procurement and supply chain or are a stakeholder (and these days, who isn’t), you will want to download our flagship report!
About the Report:
This 17th annual CPO report is one that I first started writing in 2006 and has become, in many ways, the defining report at Ardent Partners. Over the years, the report has tackled various themes, including People and Spend Management (2006), the Rise of the CPO (2008), the Tough Times… of the global recession (2009), Procurement-led Innovation (2011), Procurement Agility (2015), and Procurement’s need to Expand Value (2019), to name a few. This year’s report dives headfirst into a pretty steep set of challenges facing the procurement in 2022 and also identifies a new slate of top CPO priorities. It is a volatile time and most CPOs are taking action. The report theme, the huge data opportunity that sits ahead of most procurement teams, is almost an afterthought given the rapid shifts occurring within the enterprise and across the supply chain.

The report is also part of an ongoing dialogue that Ardent Partners’ analysts have had with CPOs and other procurement leaders for more than a decade. The report examines the general competencies and capabilities of procurement organizations today and highlights the management strategies and tactics that leading CPOs use to get the most from their teams. It also presents a comprehensive, industry-wide view into what is happening in the world of procurement and captures the experience, performance, perspective, and intentions of 369 CPOs and other procurement executives. The report includes benchmark statistics, analysis, and recommendations that procurement teams can use to better understand the state of procurement today, gain insight into best practices, benchmark their performance against the Best-in-Class, and ultimately improve their operations and performance.
