Editor’s note: Today’s article is considered the official launch of Ardent analyst Christopher J. Dwyer’s 2015-2016 State of Contingent Workforce Management research study. Now in its third year, Ardent Partners’ annual State of Contingent Workforce Management has become the official “guidebook” for organizations seeking guidance on how to enhance their management of non-employee workers. This year’s edition, slated to publish in October, will unveil market trends and developments in the contingent workforce industry. Click here to participate in the online survey that will fuel the findings for this year’s report (in exchange for 15 minutes of your time, you will receive a complimentary edition of this year’s study).

Freelancers. Contractors. Consultants. Temporary workers. Independent talent. Today’s non-employees may be known by many different names, but they’re defined in the same way: workers that are not considered part of the organization’s full-time employee base. Ardent Partners previously outlined the growth of the contingent workforce industry (30% over the next few years), with nearly a third (32%) of today’s total workforce comprised of temporary workers.

By now, businesses across the globe understand the criticality of contingent workforce management: with so many workers coming in and out of the organization on a daily basis, they are not always engaged, sourced, and managed via controlled and compliant methods…leaving the average enterprise open for a variety of significant risks.

The scope of today’s non-employee workforce continues to change, continues to evolve into something that warrants much more corporate attention. And it’s the reason why Ardent Partners has launched the survey to its third annual edition of its State of Contingent Workforce Management research study. The new report, scheduled for publication in October, will:

  • Highlight the evolution of the non-employee workforce
  • Detail the shifting sources of talent in today’s “gig economy”
  • Discuss the role of automation and technology in managing the non-employee workforce
  • Unveil brand new market trends regarding the future path of contingent workforce management programs.

As in years past, this year’s research study relies on the participation of procurement, supply management, finance, and HR executives and professionals across the globe. Click here to participate in this year’s State of Contingent Workforce Management research survey, and, in exchange for 15 minutes of your time, you will be provided with a complimentary copy of the resulting report when it publishes in October.
