Ardent Partners conducts one procurement-themed market research study each year and I’d like to invite you to participate in it – our annual CPO Rising research effort – by clicking here and spending 15 minutes taking this survey (practitioners only).

By taking the survey, you have an opportunity to help advance the collective knowledge of the entire procurement profession AND get a full view into the current “State of Procurement” when the report publishes.

Here’s a description of the report:

Convergence has been a big theme this past decade. Frankly, it seems like everything is converging with something else.

Your local pharmacy is now your walk-in clinic.

Your low-cost retailer is now your bank.

Your girl scout cookies are now deliciously found in your ice cream – Samoas!

You can listen to the Beatles’ White Album and Jay-Z’s Black Album at the SAME TIME! (Thanks,Danger Mouse).

And of course, your smart phone is well, everything (honestly, there were too many possible links to pick just one).

Reese’s was definitely onto something.

Business is also gripped by convergence fever with more business units and regions and products converging, mostly for the better. Business processes and business functions are converging around value and shared interests. Supply Chains are converging. too. This corporate convergence, in many ways, is best-evidenced by the Chief Procurement Officer whose role has become one of expansion and convergence. Like a smart phone or Swiss army knife, business executives expect their CPO to play more than one role – business leader, sourcing expert, trusted advisor, relationship manager, supply  manager, cash manager, risk manager, the list goes on and on.

Building on the tremendous success of the previous earlier versions of this report, which all have had participation of more than 250 procurement executives, Ardent’s Chief Research Officer, Andrew Bartolini (me) will be back in action in 2014 to deliver another classically-written and structured market research report focused on the Chief Procurement Officer’s mission for 2014 and beyond. This groundbreaking report will draw from the experience, performance, and perspective of the CPO Rising readership and other procurement executives (utilizing a web-based survey) to become what we expect will be the most comprehensive, influential, and widely-distributed supply management report of 2014.

As always, thank you for your time and support.
