In 2012, our Category Sourcing Scorecard series was one of the most popular. As a reminder the Scorecard was a tool developed by Ardent Partners to help sourcing teams prioritize categories for sourcing. The Category Sourcing Scorecard is available for download by clicking here (registration required).

The report sponsor (BravoSolution) thought it would be a good idea to invite me to present on a webinar that provides an overview of the Scorecard. I will also perform a live demonstration of how to use the Scorecard by taking actual spend categories and using the Scorecard to develop a sourcing. The webinar will be held on February 12th at 11 am ET – the description is below. If you have an interest in me scoring a specific category during the webinar, please email me by February 8.

Driving Savings: Using The Category Sourcing Scorecard To Build A Smarter, Faster Sourcing Pipeline

So many categories, so little time… In a world with limited resources, every decision on what category to source (and when to source it) has an impact on overall results – there are real tradeoffs and real consequences from these choices. The development of a sourcing pipeline remains one of the most important activities for any procurement organization and yet, many sourcing teams struggle to build a robust sourcing pipeline that is designed to meet savings and other objectives.

To help sourcing teams better meet this challenge, Andrew Bartolini, chief research officer at Ardent Partners (and publisher of CPO Rising) recently developed the “Category Sourcing Scorecard” to help sourcing teams evaluate different categories across a standard set of sourcing considerations or factors. This survey-driven Excel file provides a framework so those factors may be quantified and compared. The end result is a sourcing “score” and a series of considerations and recommendations for each category that can then be used to rank order categories for sourcing and allocate resources.

On February 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM EST Andrew will spend an hour walking sourcing professionals through the Scorecard’s design and demonstrating how to use the tool by taking different categories through the Scorecard process to determine how source-able they are.

If you would like Andrew to score your category during this webinar, please email your category specs to abartolini (at) ardentpartners dotcom by February 8.
