Diamond Foods Appoints David Colo New EVP

Diamond Foods, Inc. has announced that David J. Colo has been appointed to the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Global Operations and Supply Chain. In this role, Mr. Colo will have responsibility for global manufacturing, procurement and supply chain and report to Brian J. Driscoll, Diamond Foods’ President and CEO. “Dave’s deep manufacturing and supply chain experience will be invaluable to us as we seek to identify cost savings opportunities in procurement, operations and logistics and implement plans to drive organizational effectiveness throughout all of our operations,” said Mr. Driscoll. Colo has more than twenty-five years of operations and supply chain including seven years with ConAgra Foods in a variety of senior roles including manufacturing, operations and food ingredients general management in the Consumer and Commercial Products Divisions and 16 years with Nestle-Purina where he held several roles with increasing responsibilities in supply chain, production, plant management, quality assurance, operations planning and general management. Mr. Colo holds a B.S. in Agribusiness Economics from Southern Illinois University.

Ireland’s Public Expenditure and Reform Appoints Paul Quinn New CPO

Last week, Ireland’s Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform announced the appointment of Mr. Paul Quinn as the Chief Procurement Officer for the Public Service. In that announcement, Minister Brendan Howlin stated that “I welcome the appointment of Paul Quinn as Chief Procurement Officer to lead a key element of the Government’s Public Service Reform agenda. Public procurement is a very significant portion of overall spending and it is essential that the Public Service is achieving maximum value for money and operational efficiency in this regard. We have ambitious plans to realize considerable cost savings in this area and I look forward to working with Paul in this context”.

Minister of State Brian Hayes said “This is a key step in implementing the reform of the central procurement function, which was announced in September. The Chief Procurement Officer will lead a major efficiency drive on Government’s spend on supplies and services of €9 billion per annum.” The Minister added that “the Chief Procurement Officer will lead a program of work to integrate procurement policy, strategy and operations in a new National Procurement Office; strengthen spend analytics and data management; have much greater aggregation of purchasing across public bodies to achieve better value for money; examine the specifications set out for goods and services; evaluate demand levels to assess how demand can be reduced; and strengthen vendor and category management.”

Quinn previously worked in eircom, where he was Director, Group Procurement and Supply Chain Management since 2007. He has also held a number of other senior management positions across the group, including General Manager, Network Engineering. During his time with eircom, Quinn led the transformation of the of the procurement function, creating a respected and highly capable strategic function, delivering annual savings of €100 million over five years. Quinn holds an MBA from Dublin City University, a Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the ACCA and a BSc in Engineering from Trinity College Dublin.

Fluor’s Chief Procurement Officer Jim Scotti Inducted into National Academy of Construction

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today that James A. Scotti, Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer for the company, was recently named a new member of the National Academy of Construction at the organization’s annual meeting. The members of the academy are drawn from a select roster of industry professionals who have demonstrated significant and long-term contributions to the construction industry. Scotti’s selection recognized his leadership in advancing the procurement profession within the construction industry and in developing strategic partnerships with suppliers around the world. He is also the first procurement executive in the industry to be inducted.

He also has oversight of Fluor’s new supply chain entity dedicated to selling quality, cost-effective, stand-alone procurement services to clients. This includes sourcing services centered on Fluor’s strategic supply relationships in China and other emerging markets. During his tenure at Fluor, he also led the development of a Fluor endowed master’s degree program at Clemson University in Supply Chain and Logistics of Capital Projects, a first-of-its-kind supply chain degree that is uniquely focused on the capital project business.

Severstal North America Appoints Chief Strategy and Procurement Officer

Severstal North America appoints Saikat Dey Chief Strategy and Procurement Officer, effective December 15, 2012. In this new role Saikat will have responsibility for the strategy, business planning and purchasing functions of the company. Saikat joined Severstal as Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, in 2011 from McKinsey and Company, where he served as Associate Principal in the Global Energy and Materials practice.

“Saikat’s balanced approach to turn complex analysis and researchinto common-senseconclusions, coupled with his insightful, innovative and practical solutions to challenging business issues, well prepare him for this new role,”said Sergei Kuznetsov, CEO, Severstal North America.
