Today is Cyber Monday.

What began as an afterthought to “Black Friday,” six years ago has become a very real thing and a very big thing. According to some experts, today will be the biggest online shopping day of 2011. According to this USA Today article “Cyber Monday was the biggest online shopping day last year and reached $1 billion [in sales], according to Web-tracking company ComScore.” An National Retail Federation spokeswoman was also quoted in the article as saying, “While the Cyber Monday trend began with many people shopping from work, it has evolved into a day where people shop for deals as soon as they get up in the morning and right before they go to bed — and almost every hour in between.”

Exciting stuff!

We’ve also heard more and more companies starting to describe this entire week as “Cyber Week.” So, what began as an afterthought to Cyber Monday this very year will soon become a very real thing, a week-long frenzy of online sales and shopping.
