Over the years, my supply management research has, at times, taken a process focus or a technology focus or an industry focus or a regional focus or a role focus. The complexity in how certain categories are sourced, procured and managed, has also resulted in a steady output of research that takes a category focus.

As many of CPO Rising’s readers know and can attest, travel is one of the “hairiest” of categories. For many organizations, it is also the largest controllable category of spend. I enjoy covering travel because the industry is challenging and dynamic and the potential value in managing this category well is extraordinary. The convergence of travel and procurement continues!

On the occasion of the new year, I am presenting a webinar (free registration by clicking here) next week where I will look at recent industry trends and share my “New Year’s Resolutions” on how to respond to those trends and improve T&E management in 2011.

Here is the webinar’s official description:

Five New Year’s Resolutions for More Effective T&E Management

Have you gotten a handle on your organization’s travel and entertainment (T&E) program for 2011? For most organizations 8-10 percent of the operating budget is dedicated to T&E. That’s why controlling this significant area of corporate spend should be one of your top New Year’s resolutions.

Take the first step in taking more control of your organization’s T&E spend by joining Concur and Andrew Bartolini of Ardent Partners for a Webinar on January 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. ET (11:00 a.m. PT). Andrew will share five things you might want to consider to help you get your T&E program in tip-top shape for the New Year. This is a presentation you won’t want to miss!

The free webinar is sponsored by Concur.
